Whose idea was it to go see The Nutcracker? My mom and my dad’s. It was basically kind of a surprise. That morning, they were like, “Hey, we’re going to go do something really special. Get a little dressed up.” So I really didn’t know too much about it, but I knew we were doing something special.
Any plans for the holidays? My mom goes to a pottery studio, and one of her friends at the studio has a dog, so we’re going to be dog-sitting that dog.
Do you have any dogs of your own? No, but soon we might get a dog.
What kind do you want? Well, I want a Cavalier King, but we’re not going to get one.
Have you wanted a dog for a while? Yes, I have. I asked when I was 6, and my mom said, “Yes, Adeline, when you’re 7,” and now I’m 8.

Who did you go with?
My mom and sister. Earlier, we did a horse-drawn-carriage ride, which I really enjoyed, though I’m terrified of horses.

Why’d you decide to go?
I had been wanting to for years. When COVID hit, I thought, My God, the simplest things that I would’ve done I haven’t done. And I said, “Nope, I’m going to do all the things now. All the plays, the shows.” So when my friend said she wanted to get tickets, I jumped on it.

How did you pick your outfit for the show?
We were at Target getting stuff — dish soap, whatever — and I told Mom to go into the kids’ dress-up section and I found that outfit. Then we went to Macy’s and I found the jacket. And the high heels came from DSW. I’d say my outfit was the best one.

What was your favorite part of the show?
When the prince gets the crown from the mouse. The mouse had five heads, and they smashed the heads off. It was scary. My least favorite is when the brother breaks the doll. Because the girl is very sad that he broke it.
