New York Woman Undergoes Kerato Procedure to Change Brown Eye Color to Blue

A New York woman underwent a controversial procedure to permanently change her eye color from brown to blue. The procedure is called Keratopigmentation. A laser is used to open a channel where pigment is injected into the cornea, which changes the color of the eye. It takes just half an hour and patients stay awake the entire time. The procedure is not FDA approved. The American Academy of Ophthalmology says "serious risks for vision loss and complications," including cornea damage.
